Breaking News from Lutsen Mountains – Ski Season Extended Thru May 4! “As yet another spring storm hit the North Shore, Lutsen has now recorded over 13 feet of snowfall this season. With a base of 2 to 3 feet on all primary runs and reserve piles virtually untouched, the snow conditions are unprecedented for late April. Meanwhile, the forecast is ideal for spring skiing with highs in the mid 40’s and lows below freezing for the extended outlook. With such ideal conditions we are opting to remain open through the first weekend in May! Lutsen Mountains is open Easter weekend with 3 mountains, 5 lifts and 60+ runs. We plan to scale back operations to one lift on Eagle Mountain with 12 – 15 runs for an additional two weekends. Bridge lift is scheduled for April 26 & 27 and May 3 & 4, providing a selection of green, blue and black diamond runs. We will offer 2 for 1 (2 days for the price of 1) as our online ticket rate.” Now this is Spring Skiing! Get a tan while you ski - the unbelievable winter snowfall is a skier's best friend! ... Wow Travis! So exciting to see the start of Waterfall Season! ... See MoreSee Less

"ICE AT HIGH FALLS - APRIL 16, 2014" There is even more ice at High Falls now! This photo was taken yesterday afternoon and really shows how the freezing mist coming off the falls has been building up the ice on the sides of the gorge. I took this wide angle shot showing the entire falls then spent a good half hour with my telephoto lens zooming in on different areas of the ice and making shots of the various abstract patterns. It sure was a lot of fun! It's hard to get a sense of scale from this photo, so keep in mind that this waterfall is about a 120 foot drop! The tallest waterfall in Minnesota :-) Prints of this image are available through my website here: www.travisnovitsky.com/Featured-Images/Newest-Work/i-wFzDhDL/A
