Special Art Events

Arctic Film Festival North House Folk School, 3rd weekend in November Part of the annual Winterer’s Gathering, the festival offers three days of films celebrating the customs, stories, landscape, culture and history of winter. It is a rare assemblage of entertaining and thought-provoking films from around the world. Films are free or inexpensive and popcorn is available! Visit Website Inuit Art Premiere At Sivertson Gallery, 3rd weekend in November Once a year, in connection with the Winterer’s Gathering and Arctic Film Festival, Sivertson’s hosts an amazing premiere of exceptional Inuit art. Events occur throughout the weekend with artists on hand giving demonstrations, fireside chats, and sharing their life in the north. A showstopper is the throat singing demonstrations by Inuit women from Nunavut, Canada. Throat singing, an ancient type of musical performance, is usually down by two women who sing back and forth trying to outlast each other. Amazing!
