Each October as the last tenacious leaves fall from the maples, the forest opens up, expanding the view with no leafy hindrances. At the very same time, all across Minnesota, teachers go the Minnesota Educators Association [MEA] conference with no student hindrances. MEA Weekend is a four- or five-day October weekend break that many families celebrate by taking an autumn road trip.
Grand Marais welcomes kids and their families with Moose Madness Weekend. You'll find signs of moose all over the place - moose-sized coffee specials, moose lodging packages, moose-themed sales in local shops and moose meal specials. Murray, Grand Marais' own moose, ambles about town, talking to the kids and posing for pictures.
